I bought this engine steady from The Mini Shop whilst at Mini 40.
The staff on the stand where very helpful but their engine steady
is dire. First of all it comes with no fitting instuctions, secondly
its design allows it to be mounted incorrectly (which it how I did
it the first time!) and thirdlmmy (and worst of all) it does'nt
fit without having to cut through the engine breather pipe (which
runs along side the rocker cover on Mpi cars) I did'nt really want
to have to do this but I did'nt want a rocking engine either so
out came the hacksaw.
Anyway after all this effort it does'nt even do a decent job of
steadying the engine, the washers suppled are too small. After a
period of time they dig into the rubber which causes the mounting
to go slack and start rattling. After putting up with this for a
few months I finally gave in and made some of my own (larger) washers.
Its now been using it now over a year and finally its doing a decent
job. Only gets a ** rating.
Summury: Buy MiniSpares version instead.
